Introduction to Travel, Tourism and Hospitality

 




The objective of this course is to introduce the participant to the fundamental aspects of the tourism, hospitality and travel industry, inclusive of Customer Service and is geared towards persons 15-20yrs.

At the end of this course the participant will be able to decide their career path in this industry and also be prepared for moving on to higher examination levels of the course - CAPE, etc.

This is an introductory level course and not a specialised course in any one area.

The instructor for this Introductory course has over 15 years’ experience in the industry, having taught at level’s 4 and 5 of the ABE programme, with additional qualifications and experience in Diplomatic protocol, Food, Nutrition & Health, and is a registered teacher with the Ministry of Education.

On Wednesday 3rd July 2024, form 5 students of Woodbrook Secondary School walked proudly into the next chapter of their journey.

This is just a highlight of the memorable ceremony at Queen's Hall.

A big thank you to all who assisted in creating positive memories for the WSS Graduation Ceremony 2024. 

Special mention to Ms. Fayola Alexander and her fantastic OJT team, Ms. Natalie Walters of NWR Services, Ms. Antnea Walcott, Mr. Geron Santana, the awesome Queen's Hall team, Unit Trust Corporation, TT Ride Share Ltd, the WSS Volunteer Club and Parents, Teachers and WSS Alumni community.

WSS Community and School Service

Recently the Community Outreach team at neighbouring Massy Stores, French Street, Woodbrook teamed up with members of the WSS Volunteer, 4H clubs and alumni for their Plant Day and School Beautification initiative.


Much thanks to Ag. Principal Ms. Ramdial and Massy French St. store manager Ms. Owens for making this possible.

The WSS community looks forward to continued collaborations with MASSY French Street.

Recognising WSS Alumni

Ms. Nadia M. Agarrat: WSS Class of 1990

Ms. Agarrat is an Assistant Director of Graduate and International Admissions in the office of admissions at Rutgers University - Camden, NJ, USA and was featured in the recent publication of  24 in 2024: Celebrating Women of Black Excellence at Rutgers University–Camden.

She holds a BA in Communications and Media Studies, an MA in Communication Arts; an MA in Childhood Studies and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management. 

Ms. Agarrat is an active member and one of the US based liaisons for the WSS Alumni community.

Dr. Helen Williams - Cumberbatch:  WSS Class of 88




Dr. Williams-Cumberbatch is a Fulbright scholar who completed doctoral studies at Ohio University, USA. She holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education and Student Affairs, an MSc. in Higher Education (Enrollment Management specialization) and a BSc. in Management Studies.


She is a member of the Executive Leadership Team at COSTAATT in the position of Vice President, Student Affairs and an active member of the WSS Alumni community.

Ambassador Dennis Francis:  WSS Class of 1973



His Excellency Dennis Francis was elected to the position of President of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2023.



Interesting fact:  Ambassador Francis' wife, Mrs. Joy Thomas-Francis also attended Woodbrook Secondary School.

Creativity at WSS - Cinco de Mayo

WSS Modern languages department celebrated Cinco de Mayo with creativity in mind. Students also presented a short historical lesson and dance during assembly.

Thank you to WSS Alumni Mr. Marcus Hart, Ms. Helen Williams Cumberbatch and Ms. Pernella Darlington for contributing to the prizes.

The Class of 1974 will be celebrating their 50th WSS Anniversary in true style on Sunday 30th June, from 3pm at La Soledad Estate.
